Acting from Awareness: Connecting Through The Body (with Oscar Zito) (Copy)
Acting from Awareness Session3: Connecting Through The Body (with Oscar Zito)
A weekly movement workshop for performers interested in psychophysical practice, aimed at reconnecting with the body and honing awareness.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
As actors and performers, our craft demands a profound understanding of human experience. Yet, often we overlook a vital aspect of this understanding – our bodies. In this series of workshops we explore the depths of our internal landscape, discovering the intricate connection between mind and body. Based in psycho-phsyical approaches to actor training fuelled by the legacy of Grotowski, we embark on a journey of self-exploration and deepening self-awareness. By reconnecting with our bodies and honing our awareness, we uncover layers of feeling and sensation that enrich our understanding of ourselves and our characters. Through this exploritative process, we move towards a more authentic and complete transformation, experiencing our character's lives not just through thought, but through embodied sensation. Join us as we embark on a journey to discover and embody our psychophysical selves.
ABOUT OSCAR ZITO
Oscar (he/him) is a drag artist (Izzy Alright) and movement practitioner who has a passion for helping actors and performers deepen their craft through work with the body. His work has taken him across Europe, and he has trained in psychophysical theatre practice at the Grotowski Institute and the European Centre for Theatre Practices Gardzienice. Drawing influence from East Asian movement and meditative practices as well as his work as a trainee psychotherapist, his movement workshops are a supportive environment where performers can connect mind and body to express themselves fully and more deeply.
